When you install a package using apt-get, often there are listed “required packages”, “recommended packages”, and “suggested packages”. By default, apt-get will install required and recommended packages, but not suggested packaged.

Be aware than if you choose to install the suggested packages, that it will install them recursively. In other words, it will add all the suggested packages to the install, as well as those packages’ suggested packages, recursively. You could easily end up with dozens or hundreds or more packages.

Please read the concerns before proceeding!

Simply add --install-suggests to your apt-get command, i.e.:

sudo apt-get --install-suggests install [somepackage]
